Descriptive: This photograph of a SONY PlayStation controller being held by two different players provides a depiction of a PlayStation controller and how to use it. Moreover, by having two different hand models the image has an added layer of PlayStation being for everyone.
Explanatory: Photographer and engineer Eugene Edgerton's photograph is explanatory because it shows each frame of someone swinging a tennis racket. We see the course the tennis racket and ball take during a serve.
Interpretative: My photograph is interpretative because it shows a shared meal occurring presumably at a restaurant. The setting and allows the viewer to come to their own conclusion about the meaning of the image - perhaps it depicts a relation of culture or part of relationships to them. (Emma Frampton)
Aesthetically Evaluative: John Hinde's photograph of Ireland in the 1950s is aesthetically evaluative because it shows the natural beauty of Ireland's rolling hills and mountains.
Ethically Evaluative: The thrift store photo is ethically evaluative because it depicts the growing movement towards sustainability by promoting second-hand shopping as an ethical alternative to fast fashion. The simplicity and beauty of the photo critiques the culture of consumerism and waste. (Emma Frampton)
Theoretical: My photograph of Bugs Bunny is theoretical as the dichotomy between the new TV and the old cartoon show creates a question of the future changes in technology yet return to some traditions such as watching old cartoons. (Emma Frampton)
